Wrath and Mercy. Looking at my life I have found that I am a 2-sided coin. These two terms help to define who I am as a person. Throughout my life I have realized I have lived with pent up anger and aggression; this was mainly when I was younger. Growing up I had an older brother who would push my buttons, like older brothers do, which would cause me like a barbarian in Dungeons and Dragons to explode into a rage. This type of rage and aggression has lingered in me growing up. I used to find myself exploding into this rage when something I hold dear is attacked. This would trigger rage and cause me to fight about it. This leads to the idea of the fist, I found myself being aggressive about the things I loved. Whether family, video games, D&D, Magic: The Gathering, and much more, I would fight for my belief. But sadly, sometimes I would go a bit overboard taking things a bit too far. Most of the time the person who gets burned the most in a fight is the one who takes it too far. You cannot win every battle; I have learned after time on this earth that you also need to have a sense of mercy towards others. This leads to the open hand, the other side of the coin. I found that many just need an open hand reaching out to understand. The hand in my piece holds a gift for those who take it. It is an idea that I put in my last project focusing on endless possibility. The dice on the fist are fixed in place, they are a forced ending to a choice made for the other. The open hand grants the option to create an endless possibility. Grants the viewer the mercy to choose. This is the concept I have come to try and emulate throughout my life and going forward. To deal out wrath when needed but also to show mercy as well.
